Wasiat Training — Session 3

The third Wasiat Training session marked the continuation of the programme’s efforts to equip financial professionals with a deeper understanding of Islamic estate planning in Singapore.

With a new group of participants, the session covered the key legal, Shariah and practical considerations surrounding Wasiat, Faraidh and Waqf. Participants also engaged in case-based discussions and a live demonstration of the iWasiat tool, helping them better understand the practical application of Islamic estate planning in their advisory work.

  • Faraidh structures — Understanding family relationships and asset classes under faraidh; typical inheritance patterns and edge cases.
  • Islamic will (Wasiat) writing — End‑to‑end process, validity requirements, clauses, witnesses/guardianship, and integration with advisory work.
  • Social finance instrument: Waqf — Case‑study illustration of converting assets into long‑term community benefit via waqf.
  • Innovation spotlight: iWasiat — Introduction and live walkthrough of iWasiat, a Singapore‑focused wasiat generator designed to streamline compliant will creation.

*Outcome: Participants left with greater confidence in understanding Islamic estate planning concepts and applying them when guiding Muslim clients through their estate planning journey.
